The Chicago Bears offensive line was dominated

Coming into the game the Chicago Bears knew they were going to be shorthanded without James Daniels and Cody Whitehair. However, to add to it, Bobby Massie went down after four snaps. This left the team with Jason Spriggs for the rest of the game.

As expected, three backup offensive lineman struggled.

Charles Leno

With so many backups on the line, the team needed an above-average game from Leno but did not get it. The book on Leno is written. He can handle speed well but gets dominated by power. With that in mind, the power rusher Marcus Davenport dominated with strength over Leno.

According to PFF, Davenport recorded seven total pressures, including a sack and a hit. The majority of that was changed to Leno. Davenport consistently pushed Leno back into the quarterback and forced Foles to get the ball out a lot quicker than he would have liked.

Rashaad Coward

Davenport also got pressure running stunts against Coward. Trey Hendrickson ran stunts, but also got the better of Coward throughout the game. Sheldon Rankins had success against Coward as well. Still, Hendrickson standing up over Coward was the biggest mismatch. He finished the game with 3 pressures and a sack.

Sam Mustipher

Mustipher spent most of his time against Malcolm Brown and David Onyamata. Brown finished with a couple of pressures as well. Mustipher was better against the run than the pass, and for his first start fared well. Still, he was charged with four pressures allowed.

Germain Ifedi

Ifedi was a lone bright spot for the line. He held Onyemata in check when Mustipher struggled with him. Overall, he was the only Bears lineman to not allow four pressures or more. Ifedi also was arguably the top run blocker from this group.

Jason Spriggs

A backup came in cold off of the bench to take on Cameron Jordan. It did not go well. Jordan ate his lunch snap in and snap out. His combination of moves and techniques was on display and Spriggs was the worst lineman in pressures allowed because of this.
