The Chicago Bears could use a receiver like A.J. Green

Allen Robinson is a great wide receiver, but the rest of the wide receiver corps is either inconsistent or finding his place within the NFL. Should the Chicago Bears look to bring in another receiver via trade, why not a player like A.J. Green?

Green has had his share with the injury bug in the past, but when he is on the field he is one of the best receivers in the game. Even at age 32, Green is better than more than the other wide receivers in the NFL. What he could bring to the Chicago Bears is some veteran leadership and most importantly some consistency.

Trading for Green would need to come with some finesse by Ryan Pace. Green is on the last year of an $18-plus million dollar contract. Obviously, the Chicago Bears would not have to pay that full amount at this point, but it would eat into the little salary cap room they have left this year. Money it seems the team is looking to roll over into 2021. The problem with that philosophy is that the team needs help now just as much as next year. The team must find a way to make a move.

In regards to trading for Green, his name alone will require significant draft capital. I would not give up anything greater than a third-round pick for Green and I would start by pushing a fifth. It might be something where they trade a third and get a fifth in return or something. See, finesse is needed here.
