Chicago Bears: With their second loss in two weeks, is it time to panic?
By Nathan Burns
The Bears need to make some serious changes if they want to make the playoffs
Another week. Another last-second finish. Only this time, it didn’t go in the Bears’ favor. The Chicago Bears took on the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field. The Bears ended up losing in overtime, which gave the team their second loss in a row.
The Bears continued to show the same struggles they have had all year long. Matt Nagy still can’t play call and the Bears don’t have any protection.
If the Bears don’t work out these issues, they might be in for a rough second half of the season.
Missing: The Chicago Bears offensive line
The Bears offensive line is a complete joke and it’s ruining the rest of our team. It started with an injury to Bears starting left guard James Daniels. After suffering a torn pectoral muscle against the Bucs, Daniels was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Last week against the Rams, starting center Cody Whitehair was forced out of the game with a calf injury. On top of that, Bears right tackle Bobby Massie injured his left knee during the first drive of yesterday’s game against the Saints.
The Bears now have three out of their five offensive line starters injured. Not to mention, Jason Spriggs and Germain Ifedi were recently put on the COVID reserve list and might not be available versus the Titans this week.
Underappreciated: David Montgomery
David Montgomery might be one of the most underappreciated players in the NFL. Since being drafted from Iowa State, the 23-year-old has shown flashes of being a good running back.
This season the Bears rank dead last in rushing, but Montgomery leads the whole league in broken tackles. He is basically running behind a high school offensive line, yet Pace hasn’t made one effort to get Montgomery some help up front. If the Bears don’t fix their protection, they will run Montgomery right into the ground.
