The Chicago Bears signed Eric Kush to the practice squad, could he be called up for Monday Night Football?

After bringing Eric Kush in for a visit the team has decided to sign him, making the announcement official on Tuesday. As the news broke, it was a clear connection between a team and a player who is familiar with each other.

Beyond that, the Chicago Bears offensive line has been terrible, with last week being the worst version we have seen. Injuries have not helped, but the depth of the line has been exposed and it has the team looking for outside help. That is exactly what Eric Kush.

With that in mind, the question is whether or not Kush could start on Monday night after being signed? With the Bears bringing him last week, he likely passed a COVID-19 screening and therefore is set to practice this week, albeit on the practice squad.

Still, it does mean he will have a chance to be called up by Monday. The Bears can use him on the practice squad all week and let him get up to speed. They also can see where he is physically and mentally all week to make sure he is ready for NFL action.

If Kush passes all of the Chicago Bears tests, he could very possibly suit up this week for a pivotal division battle.

Cody Whitehair is still going to be a tough call, but his return would be major. Beyond that, Jason Spriggs is set to return. A line of Charles Leno, Eric Kush, Cody Whitehair, Germain Ifedi, and Jason Spriggs is a lot better than what we saw last week. Even if Sam Mustipher were to play at center it would be a difference. Keep an eye on practice reports, and the possibility that Eric Kush will start on Monday.
