The Chicago Bears finally bring in their quarterback of the future

The more and more I watch Kyle Trask this season, the more I like him. Many are in awe over Zach Wilson’s ascension this season, but we should not be sleeping on Trask. Trask has some great size for him for the NFL too. He stands 6’5″ and weighs in at 240 pounds.

The only problem here is that I have a feeling Trask does not last this long. I think at the very least he is a second-round pick come the 2021 NFL Draft. He is even pushing to be another first-round draft pick. The Bears might have to bite the bullet earlier than this, but if they could land him here I would be jumping up and down like Bill Gramatica.

Last year was the first year that Trask has started for Florida. In fact, he had not started a game in high school either. This might turn some fans off as we have seen our fair share of inexperienced quarterbacks who flashed and did not live up to expectations. Not to mention, we have seen a Florida quarterback in Chicago who did not pan out as expected in Rex Grossman.

Chicago Bears fans need to realize that Trask is not Grossman though. They are not even close to being alike. Trask has a great ability to use his eyes to move defenders off of where he wants to go with the football. This allows his receivers to find more room to get open as he deceives them one way and will throw another way.

His arm strength is not the greatest, but it’s good enough and he is now averaging 360 yards per game with 28 touchdowns and only three interceptions. This is a vast improvement over last year when he averaged only 245 yards per game. That said, he still threw 25 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. He has easily taken a step forward and the only hope here is he falls to the second.

Final Thoughts:

I would absolutely love for this draft to work out this way. The problem is, I am not sure that Trask falls this far in the draft. More likely, the Chicago Bears will need to go with a quarterback in the first (maybe second at the latest) round and then follow that up with an offensive tackle in the second. In fact, trading up in the second should not be ruled out if it means locking down a better tackle from this deep offensive line draft. Wide receiver I feel can wait until the third round.
