Chicago Bears: What to do now that Nick Foles is hurt?
The Chicago Bears lost Nick Foles to what looks to be a hip injury
Wow. How I am going to write this without expletives is going to be tough. Matt Nagy just finished addressing the media and well, it seems to me that the Chicago Bears window is officially closing. That’s hard to fathom based on how well the defense has performed the last few years. The offense only needs to be mediocre, but they find themselves towards the very bottom of the league in nearly every category and Nick Foles has not helped.
Nick Foles looked awful tonight in the loss to the Vikings. He had maybe two great throws and the rest were something you would expect to see if Tyler Bray was in at quarterback (did you see his last throw?). Nick Foles went down on the last drive of the game with what Nagy said is either a hip or a leg injury.
From the looks of it, I am leaning hip. Foles was carted off the field and with Mitch Trubisky sidelined with a shoulder injury, Tyler Bray had to come in. One thing is for sure, Bray is not the answer.
The Chicago Bears are lucky enough to head into the bye week, but after a 5-1 start, the team has lost four in a row and now sit 5-5 on the year. The team will be lucky enough to finish 8-8 again this year and this is likely what will push Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace out the door a year early. George McCaskey has to be fuming right now, but if he reads this (he won’t), he better fire Ted Phillips too. If he could fire himself, he can do that too. If you blow it up, blow it all up.
The Chicago Bears need to find a quarterback to play versus the Packers
After the bye week, the Chicago Bears will face the Green Bay Packers. I recently wrote how Matt Nagy must go 2-1 over the next three games to save his job. This means the Chicago Bears must find a way to beat both the Packers and the Lions after the bye. As it stands, my assumption is that Nick Foles will not be available for the Packers game. However, Mitch Trubisky might not e available either as Nagy calls him day-to-day. So now what?
Well, Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace better hope Mitch Trubisky is available. Tyler Bray looked awful and that would leave the team with only Kyle Sloter who was signed to the Chicago Bears practice squad a week ago. At this point, I’d hand the reigns over to Sloter over Bray. The problem is, with the Bears offensive line, I’m not sure Trubisky, Bray or Sloter make a difference.
