Bobby Massie must be a Chicago Bears cap casualty next year

Even if the salary cap was going up to the projected $210 million in 2021, I still would want to see the Chicago Bears move on from Bobby Massie. Massie has been a liability the last two seasons and this year did not look any better. He has worn out his welcome and Leno has been better in my opinion. Therefore, if I were running this team I would look to draft a replacement left tackle in either the first or second round while moving Leno to right tackle and cutting Massie.

Massie is scheduled to make $9.3 million dollars in 2021, however, his dead cap hit is only $2.6 million dollars. Therefore, the team will save another $6.7 million dollars with this move. Just like Leno, Massie is not worth the $9.3 million dollars he is going to earn next year.

He is not going to be tradable with another $9.4 million dollars owed to him in 2022. I cannot see any team taking on that amount of money for Massie’s production. Not to mention he will be 33 in 2022. Some offensive linemen are still very serviceable at that age, I do not see Massie being one of them.
