4. Cole Kmet
Most fans came into the rookie season of Cole Kmet with realistic expectations. Tight ends do not set the world on fire as rookies, and Kmet was a raw tight end coming out with youth on his side. Everyone knew this would take a while. Still, it was frustrating to see that Kmet would barely see the field early into the 2020 season.
Fortunately, the rookie has progressed and started to get out there more. In the past two games, he has played 36 and 35 snaps, which are career highs. Kmet also ran a career-high number of routes against the Minnesota Vikings.
Kmet went from a backup to Demetrius Harris and not seeing the field over him to getting more time on Monday Night Football than Jimmy Graham. The year has been slow for Kmet, but it has also gone as expected. Now, with the bye week coming off of his career-high game, the idea should be that he can take off after this. No tight ends should out snap him from here on, and we should start to get a glimpse into what year two will look like.
