The Chicago Bears need to retool the quarterback position after this season

After the 2020 season, the only quarterback locked up is Nick Foles. Mitch Trubisky will be a free agent and Tyler Bray will be as well. The Bears need to be aggressive and make some changes next season if they truly want to ever have a good quarterback.

It remains to be seen who will select the quarterback next season. It looks like both Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy are on the hot seat right now after the horrendous four-game skid they just went on bringing them from 5-1 to 5-5.

In my honest opinion, they need a new head coach who can pick his quarterback. I don’t trust Matt Nagy to take a quarterback and elevate his play as he clearly soiled his young quarterback in Trubisky and then got “his guy” in Foles and that has resulted in a bottom-three offense in the NFL and arguably one of the worst in the NFL.

Hopefully, the Bears bring in a new head coach who can select his quarterback. Normally when teams do that, it does work out really well just like when Kliff Kingsbury got his guy in Kyler Murray.

All in all, both of the quarterbacks this season have been below average at least. Trubisky started the season 2-0 and looked solid before being pulled as Nagy’s scapegoat and since then, Foles has not looked good (outside of his miraculous comeback against the Atlanta Falcons). More recently, Foles struggled to get anything going against the porous Minnesota Vikings’ secondary only throwing for 106 yards and an interception.

Sadly, the Bears are stuck with him next season and need to adjust accordingly. He will likely be on the roster next season. But besides Foles, what else should they do?
