What will it take for Mitch Trubisky to earn another contract in the NFL?

The Chicago Bears will be starting Mitch Trubisky at quarterback in their Week 12 matchup versus the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night. This will be his first start since he was benched in Week 3 against the Falcons in favor of Nick Foles. Bears fans everywhere seem to be rallying around Mitch Trubisky as their playoff hopes hang in the balance.

The Bears are currently 5-5 and are currently out of the playoff picture. They are not out of it yet, but the team will need to string together some wins in order to get back into contention for a playoff spot.

Trubisky has been asked to come in and perform after being benched for nine weeks. As many as he already had, this could be another make-or-break moment for him. Not only is he playing to get the Bears into the playoffs, but he is playing as a last-ditch effort for either a new contract with the Chicago Bears or at least with another NFL team.

The chances are next to none that Mitch Trubisky is in a Chicago Bears uniform next year, but there is still “a” chance. What would the Bears need to see from him in order to fathom the idea of bringing him back? He is set to have some suiters looking for a capable backup quarterback, a position becoming more valuable with injuries piling up along with Covid-19.

Yet, could Trubisky show that he could be a starter in a different offense? There are many teams that could be in the market for a cheap starting quarterback this coming offseason. Still, Trubisky is going to have to show improvement in multiple aspects of his game in order to garner offseason stock for himself.
