The Chicago Bears were embarrassed once again in a loss to the Packers

The Chicago Bears were coming off the bye week and going into must-win territory. A loss to the Green Bay Packers pushes the Packers into a three-game lead in the NFC North. What’s worse is the Bears have now fallen to third in the division as they head into the second matchup versus the Lions. Should they lose that game, the team will find themselves in the bottom spot. Crazy to imagine after a 5-1 start, but that start masked many, many problems with this team.

The defense looked beat early. Those saying the defense gave up because the offense is just that bad need to stop that nonsense right now. This defense is too good to allow the Packers to move the ball and score that easily. The slopiness is downright awful and there is clearly a lack of pride. They do not deserve a pass for this performance.

Moving to the offensive side of the ball is not any better. Putting up 25 points is huge after the unit had not scored a touchdown in the last two games. That said, the inconsistency by Matt Nagy, Bill Lazor and Mitch Trubisky once again shows how inept this offense is on all levels. I said it on Twitter, what is sad about this game is that Trubisky made the offense look better and more efficient than it has been with Nick Foles at the helm. However, it was still ugly and bad.

The running game got going thanks to a 57-yard run by David Montgomery on the Chicago Bears’ opening possession. However, it was better throughout the game as a whole and Montgomery broke 100 yards on the night. Trubisky brings that extra threat that forces defenses to play a little differently. The thought of a quarterback scramble is enough to give Montgomery just a little bit more of a crease. It was still not enough though.

Matt Nagy should be fired tomorrow but will last the rest of the year at least

Losing to the Packers 41-25 is embarrassing. Losses like these have caused better coaches in the NFL to lose their jobs. It will be interesting to see how the Chicago Bears organization handles the situation with Nagy and Pace. I doubt Nagy will be fired before the end of the year, but I do think the front office must consider it after the season now. Nothing in this offense seems to work. This holds true for Pace also.

Nagy stated he is not concerned about his job in the post-game press conference, but what else is he supposed to say? A coach cannot publicly say he or she is worried about being fired, it was a dumb question to ask in all honesty. That said, I guarantee in the back of his mind he is concerned even though we all know the chances of him getting fired, even if he should be, probably will not happen.

Next. Fans must stop praising the defense. dark

All of this said, if I am in charge of this organization, I’d be cleaning house tomorrow. I’d start with both Nagy and Pace. I’d give Chuck Pagano the head coaching job while having Bill Lazor run the offense. Then I would hand the reins over to Anthony “Champ” Kelly and assess his abilities. A few important cuts will need to happen in the offseason in regards to players as well. The good news is that the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft could turn this team around quickly based on specific needs.
