Dud #2: The Defense

I think it’s safe to say the Chicago Bears defense may have played their worst game of the 2020 season thus far. This game was particularly bad because the Bears were coming off of a bye week.

Roquan Smith, who is having an All-Pro type of year, seemed to have a really quiet game and you can argue it was maybe his worst game this season. Buster Skrine was getting beat throughout the game. Whenever Packers star receiver Davante Adams line up in the slot he was beating Skrine easily.

Missing Akiem Hicks in this game is huge as he is the vocal leader of this unit and maybe the most important player on the defense. Akiem is a legit game wrecker who clogs up rushing lanes so quickly. He eats up double teams constantly which opens up for the pass rushers around him.

This defense honestly looked like they have given up on the coaching staff. They looked uninspired Sunday night against a hated rival no less. They know that the offense gives them no support and with how much they have played this season, the defense could be totally spent.

As is the case with a lot of pieces on this team, there could be some turnover on this defense during the offseason.
