The offensive tackle draft class is even better than the quarterback class

WIth eight quarterbacks ranked within the top 100, it means the Chicago Bears can look to draft one either in the first round or possibly the second round. This also means the team can look to add a big man up front early too.

The Chicago Bears have not used a high draft pick on a tackle since Gabe Carimi in 2007. This would be fine if they had legit tackles in place, but Charles Leno and Bobby Massie have not been good enough to ignore the position in this manner. I will admit there has been more emphasis by the current regime to add big men in the middle of the line, but this has proven not to work in regards to efficiently blocking in both the run and pass game.

The good news for the Chicago Bears is that the 2021 NFL Draft class looks to be very deep at offensive tackle. TDN has 11 offensive tackles ranked within the top 100 and six grade out as first-round draft picks. Unless the Bears can snag one of those top three quarterbacks, offensive tackle is probably the better option for the first round.

Penei Sewell will easily be out of reach for the Bears, but names like Christian Darrisaw, Samuel Cosmi and Jalen Mayfield could easily be options for the Chicago Bears general manager (will it be Ryan Pace?) to choose from.
