Could the Chicago Bears convince Ed Dodds to step away to be general manager?

This one seems to me like a longshot, but if the Chicago Bears could convince Ed Dodds to take on the role of General Manager, it could be one of the better front-office hires of the 2021 offseason. Currently, Dodds is the assistant general manager of the Indianapolis Colts. This would mean the move would only be about a three to four drive north of his current “home”.

Dodds has a fabulous background and resume. He did some great work with Seattle and has become well known as one of the better scouts in the NFL. Could the Bears convince him to take on the main role as general manager and bring his expertise to the Windy City?

Dodds has been accredited for drafting players such as Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. More recently, he has been connected to the Colts selection of Quenton Nelson and Darius Leonard. Can he now find the Chicago Bears a Russell Wilson type quarterback outside the first or second round?
