Nick Foles should be the starter, but the Chicago Bears must fire someone first

Jim Miller, for me, is the gold standard when it comes to analyzing the Bears’ offense. He believes Nick Foles should go back to being the Bears starter. This former Bears quarterback who is part of Fox’s extensive local Chicago Bears coverage has consistently been objective and fair when critiquing Mitch Trubisky.

However, Trubisky committed the unforgivable sins of throwing two interceptions that should never have been thrown to his pass targets in the most important game of the season. One had double coverage and the other had triple coverage.

I basically agree with Jim Miller that Nick Foles should start the next game. However, I have one caveat and that is Nick Foles should only start if Matt Nagy is no longer the Bears head coach. As long as Coach Nagy is around to heavily influence the Bears’ offense, Nick Foles is very likely going to play like the worst version of himself.

This article makes a strong case that Foles’ distinct lack of respect and trust toward Coach Nagy has brought out the worst in him. The Bears would have the best chance to make the playoffs and maybe even win their remaining five games if they fired Matt Nagy and then made Nick Foles their starting quarterback. However, there is proof that Mitch Trubisky should be their starter at this point given that Nagy has not been fired. The proof is that in spite of his many critical mistakes the Bears’ offense still looked better than it did when Nick Foles was their quarterback.
