Chuck Pagano needs to be fired with Nagy

On top of Nagy being a conservative and horrid play-caller on the offensive side of the ball, Chuck Pagano takes the cake on the defensive side of the ball as being the exact same type of coach.

From his passive “bend-not-break” defense to the incredible soft coverage that he constantly deploys, Chuck Pagano takes arguably one of the most talented defenses in the NFL and makes them look a below-average defense. Pagano lets teams just shred them but as long as they get field goals it’s okay right?

Well, teams have been scoring more than field goals now. After the Packers put up 41 on the Bears now the Lions put up 34. The Bears’ defense has elite players at nearly every position group making this completely unacceptable.

Pagano additionally has one of the lowest blitz rates in the NFL. Because of this low blitz rate, the Bears struggle to get sacks and pressure the quarterback because teams can easily bring a tight end in and double team both Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack. And it works! Quarterbacks have all the time in the world to wait for their wide receivers to find openings in the soft zone defense Pagano runs. He needs to get out of here for someone who will actually be aggressive.
