The Chicago Bears may have found their kicker in Cairo Santos.
No. 2: Cairo Santos
Bears fans have had nightmares from what Cody Parkey did to the in 2018. Not only missing the game-winning kick against the Eagles but also missing several kicks throughout the season and becoming synonymous with the word double-doink.
After moving on from Parkey the Bears took a chance on Eddy Pineiro who won their infamous kicker competition during last year’s training camp. Pineiro, while better than Parkey, seemed to have the full trust of the coaching staff and the team quickly moved on after just one season with the team.
So heading into 2020 the team was once again on the search for a kicker. They ended up with Cairo Santos who seems to have brought some much-needed stability to the position. The Chicago Bears have been in the market for a kicker since they failed to replace Robbie Gould.
It’s nice to see Santos come in and be reliable. He has made 18 of his 20 field-goals, as well as hitting 2 of 3 from 50 plus yards. If I were the Bears I would absolutely look to bring Santos back in the offseason. He’s a veteran kicker who is only still 29 and probably has many more years ahead of him.
By no means do you break the bank for a kicker but letting him walk could prove to be a costly decision by a team that has been plagued at the position.
