Chicago Bears you can and cannot trust in the fantasy playoffs

Chicago Bears you can trust in fantasy
David Montgomery, RB
Fantasy owners are finally reaping the benefits of drafting Montgomery in the middle of their drafts. His next four matchups are against Houston, Minnesota, Jacksonville and Green Bay. All of those teams are beatable on the ground. Great news for a guy who is averaging 6.8 YPC over the past couple of weeks with the added addition that he found the end zone against Detroit. He’s also receiving 10 targets per game during that span, which is a bonus if you play in a PPR league.
In that format, Montgomery has scored 26 or more points in each of his last two games. The changes at the offensive line are beginning to show, and you mix in the fact that Montgomery is running more and more aggressive each week. Don’t believe me? Watch this run.
You should feel comfortable with Montgomery’s weekly workload and his juicy schedule in the fantasy playoffs…don’t overthink this one.
Allen Robinson, WR
Robinson has been as steady as they come in fantasy this year. The 27-year-old, soon to be free agent, has just one game this season where he has failed to score into the double-digits for fantasy owners.
You’d have to go all the way back to Week 2’s matchup against the New York Giants for that, but look at what the Giants defense just did against the Seattle Seahawks receiving threats in Week 13. Robinson is an elite play as long as Mitchell Trubisky and/or Nick Foles can get him the ball.
Looking at the same matchups we did for Montgomery, Houston, Minnesota and Jacksonville are defenses to play your receivers against this year — especially for a guy as talented as Robinson. The Vikings kept Robinson in check back in Week 10 when he was held to 43 yards on six receptions.
That was still on nine targets. Not to mention he had Foles slinging passes in that matchup. Robinson has received a whopping 20 targets over the past two weeks. That includes Week 12’s matchup against Jaire Alexander when he scorched the Packers for 8-74-2. Play him with confidence, and Bears fans pray he’s back on the team next year.
Cole Kmet, TE
This is strictly a dynasty league stash. You can’t trust starting Kmet in leagues quite yet, but you have to take note of what the Bears first-round pick is doing towards the end of the season. Jimmy Graham a.k.a. Jimmy Graham-pa has done absolutely nothing in Chicago over the past three weeks, receiving only seven targets, three catches and 32 yards during that span.
Kmet on the other hand has seen a major uptick in snap percentage. After playing around 40% of snaps for the majority of the season, the 21-year-old is now seeing 70% or more of the snaps. The Bears are actually designing plays for the monstrous tight end standing at 6-foot-6, 262 pounds. Kmet proved he has a nose for the end zone in Week 13.
The Notre Dame product is just getting started with his Week 13 line of five receptions on seven targets, 37 yards and the score. Look at drafting Kmet in the later rounds of fantasy drafts next year. Even if the Bears keep competition at the position, it’s becoming clear they want to get him more involved in the offense.
