Alejandro Villanueva, Offensive Tackle
Charles Leno and Bobby Massie should both see the door after this season. Neither are living up to their contracts and are crucial to the Bears’ horrible offensive line the past two seasons. The Bears need to completely retool this position group and it can start with this star left tackle.
Although Alejandro Villanueva has never truly been a recognized star at left tackle, he has been a staple for the Pittsburgh Steelers since he joined the team in 2014 on the practice squad. He eventually became the starter in 2015 and hasn’t lost it since earning himself two Pro Bowls during his tenure as well.
Although he hasn’t been in the league long, he is 32-years-old due to his service in the Army. Even though he is this old, he hasn’t shown any signs of weakening or slowing down and is still a huge asset to the Steelers’ offense shown by his solid PFF grade of 76.5.
Villanueva not only will be a great starter, but also a great mentor. The Bears can then draft a tackle in the second or third round to learn from this great person and player. He would be a perfect fit and need for the Bears. He may be on the expensive side, but the Bears need to make it work to bring him in.
