These five teams could revive Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s career

The Chicago Bears are likely cutting ties with Mitch Trubisky following the 2020 NFL season. The Bears declined Trubisky’s fifth-year option back in early May and now the former second overall pick is hitting free agency. He’ll compete alongside big market names such as Dak Prescott, Cam Newton and Philip Rivers, but some clubs could opt for Mitch Trubisky on a smaller, prove-it type of contract.

Maybe something similar to the one-year, $1.05 million contract that the New England Patriots inked Newton to at the end of the 2020 free agency period. Trubisky certainly carries his suitcase of question marks, but in the small sample size of games he’s started for the Bears, his stats over a 16-game pace actually result in a career year for the 26-year-old.

Trubisky’s current pace sits at 576 attempts, 360 completions (62.5%), 3,764 passing yards and a 36-16 touchdown to interception ratio. That’s calculating his four games against the Lions (2), Giants and Packers while excluding the Falcons game he was benched in for Nick Foles. There are five teams that could use No. 10’s services next season, and quite frankly, getting out of Chicago might be what Trubisky needs right now.

One of the quarterback’s best assets is his rushing ability. Mitch Trubisky has seen a steady decline in his rushing attempts during his 4-year span with the Bears. Health has also played a factor in that equation, but if Trubisky wants to prove that he’s not a complete bust then he’ll need to find the right home in 2021. Let’s start with some honorable mentions.
