Allen Robinson

The priority of the likely new Bears’ general manager should be to retain Allen Robinson. The new GM though needs to keep in mind how much money Robinson is asking for, but for what Robinson has done for this team even in a bad scheme with the bad quarterback play, he still has performed extremely well.

The Bears brought in Robinson off of a major ACL injury. It took him awhile to get acclimated to the team and didn’t have gaudy numbers in 2018. He only caught 55 passes for 754 yards and four touchdowns, but he had an impressive game in the Wild Card against the Philadelphia Eagles catching 10 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown.

After that season, Robinson was fully healthy and exploded. He caught 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He wasn’t perfect with his drops, but he still was very impressive. This season, Robinson is still playing at a high level and lowering his drops. He only has one drop on the season and has caught 77 passes for 904 yards and five touchdowns.

Robinson and Ryan Pace have had a rocky relationship in terms of resigning. Pace doesn’t see the value in Robinson that Robinson is asking for. His extension will be pricey (upwards of $20 million average per year), but he will be worth it to bring back. If not, they will need to look to free agency to replace him.
