Chicago Bears: 3 Free agents to re-sign after the season
By Joseph Herff
Cordarrelle Patterson
The Bears have been extremely blessed with return men in recent years. The Bears went from the greatest return man of all time in Devin Hester to having the second-best kickoff returner in NFL history in Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson has been a great player and teammate to the Chicago Bears in his two-year career here.
Patterson loves it in Chicago and that was evident this offseason. Once the 2019 season ended, Patterson went to Twitter to attempt to recruit his former teammates multiple times. Although he was unsuccessful, he showed his love for the Bears and his want to be here.
Even though he turns 30 in March, Patterson has shown zero signs of slowing down. He has proven he wants to play anywhere as long as he can get the ball as he switched to running back this season and has done well in doing so.
Patterson already has a kick return touchdown this season. He additionally averages 30.1 yards per return which is the highest it’s been since 2016 when he was on the Minnesota Vikings.
He not only is valuable as a returner, but he also is a great gunner on the punt team as well. He constantly flies down the field as a gunner to shut down opposing punt returners. His heart and love for the team are of great value to this team and it should be retained also with his three All-Pro selections as well.
