Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. 10. Alabama. MacJones. player. 829

With the Jaguars’ second-round pick, the Chicago Bears find their quarterback. Fans might not like the idea of moving down from Zach Wilson and winding up with Mac Jones. Here’s the thing, Jones has just as much of a chance at succeeding in the NFL as Wilson. Not to mention, at least Jones sees the better defensive competition.

Just like Darrisaw, Jones is moving up many draft boards. Jones is averaging nearly 350 yards per game passing this season. This is a huge upgrade from the partial season he had filling in for Tua Tagovailoa last season. Last year, Jones averaged less than 150 passing yards per game. He did finish with 14 passing touchdowns though.

This season, Jones has already thrown nearly double the amount of touchdowns (27) as he did in 2019. What stands out the most to me with Jones is that his completion percentage has gone from 68.8 percent in 2019 to 75.7 percent this season, while increasing his air-yards-per-attempt by over two yards (11.7 vs 13.8). It helps that he has world-class wide receivers, but someone has to get them the football and Jones brings great awareness and decision making every week.

What makes this mock draft so exciting though is that with the trade back from 13th to 26th, grabbing the 34th overall pick gives the Bears the chance at finding two starting offensive linemen and a quarterback. Hitting on all three would instantly make the Bears a contender.
