Alabama. Alex Leatherwood. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. 70. 829

Many had Alex Leatherwood as a first-round pick. The fact that he fell into the second round for the Chicago Bears would be a dream. Between Leatherwood and Christian Darrisaw, this offensive line will now have two new bookend tackles to work with. Leatherwood has some experience playing right tackle for Alabama, but I would work with both and determine who fits best where in the offseason. Either way, both would be an upgrade (might take a season or two).

Leatherwood is slightly bigger than Darrisaw at 6’6″ and 310 pounds. He is not as smooth as Darrisaw but he is more aggressive. This can be a bad thing at times as he showed some signs of struggling against more athletic pass rushers in his 2019 season. He has shown some improvement though this season and pairing him up with his college quarterback Mac Jones seems like an easy choice here.

If the Chicago Bears can add these two big men, play Sam Mustipher at center, then kick Cody Whitehair to guard, that would leave James Daniels at the other guard position. That is honestly an offensive line I would get excited about. Not to mention, the team would have Alex Bars as a backup who has proven to be able to play every position. Sign me up, please.
