Chicago Bears make a major trade in this 2021 seven-round mock draft
While going through this draft I was shocked to find Marvin Wilson drop to me at the 77th overall pick. I can actually see Wilson going somewhere in the second round, and I expect him to go higher in the third. That said, when he was there on the board, I continued to build through the trenches.
This is a new way of thinking it seems for the Chicago Bears, and honestly, I think we will need to see a new General Manager in place for it to happen. When it comes to the offensive side of the ball, Ryan Pace has focused on the interior part of the trench only by drafting Cody Whitehair and James Daniels.

This regime has shown focus on the defensive side of the ball by drafting the likes of Eddie Goldman and Jonathan Bullard (both drafted before Day 3). However, outside of that, they have looked to players (admittedly decent) like Bilal Nichols in the fifth round and Roy Robertson-Harris as an undrafted free agent.
Although the defensive line is solid, Roy Robertson-Harris will be a free agent in 2021 and both Akiem Hicks and Nichols will be free agents in 2022. Adding a guy like Marvin Wilson can make Bears fans forget about at least Robertson-Harris and Nichols. Wilson was a five-star recruit going into college. He has great size for the NFL and is very athletic. He even has great mobility for a guy standing 6’5″ and weighing in at over 300 pounds.
In his sophomore season, Wilson came away with 3.5 sacks in 12 games. He built upon that with five sacks in nine games during his Junior season. That year he also had 8.5 tackles for loss. These are impressive numbers for a defensive lineman. He might have fallen in the draft as he only played six games in 2020 before needing minor surgery. This is the second time he’s missed the back half of his college season due to an injury.
