The Chicago Bears trade Khalil Mack to the Houston Texans.
This is another trade for the Chicago Bears that would have to be determined in the future. Aside from how nice it would be to have a Khalil Mack for Deshaun Watson trade go through, I just don’t see that happening for the Bears, but Watson plays a key factor in what could lead to the Texans pursuing a trade like this.
The Houston Texans were put through the wringer in the offseason when former coach Bill O’Brien traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. With O’Brien gone, the new Texans front office could opt into trading players and picks to put Mack alongside J.J. Watt.
This is unfortunately another situation for the Bears where the Texans already traded their 2021 first-round pick to the Miami Dolphins, so perhaps a franchise-tagged Will Fuller to help at wide receiver and some future first-round picks could get this deal done.
I don’t love this one as much for the Bears, but the Texans would certainly come calling. Houston is an organization with Romeo Crennel as its interim head coach right now. I’m creating a hypothetical here, but Robert Saleh, the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, has been one of the hottest names on the head coaching market heading into next season. Saleh has coached multiple stints with the Texans in the past, so maybe there’s a reunion in order that could result in Saleh bringing in some legit talent.
Much like all of the teams on this list, Houston needs help on defense. The Texans currently start defensive end Charles Omenihu on the opposite side of Watt to rush the quarterback with five sacks to his name through two seasons. Creating pressure up front helps the rest of a defense and it helps a star-studded quarterback like Watson on the offense.
