Chicago Bears: Predicting the wide receiver corps for 2021
By Cody Young
The Chicago Bears will need to look to the draft once again
Trevon Grimes
While it may not be as historic as last year’s WR class, the 2021 class has its fair share of talent across the board. It’s very top-heavy with names like Ja’Marr Chase, Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Terrance Marshall but it also has some nice mid-round prospects.
I think Trevon Grimes falls into this category. After transferring to Florida from OSU after the 2017 season, Grimes has been a consistent WR for the Gators. His numbers may not be the most flashy but he is a big-bodied receiver capable of high-pointing the ball.
Grimes has been rated as high as a third-rounder and as low as a fifth-rounder. If Chicago is able to get him in the latter then I think this would be great value for the team. Some of Grimes’ success could also be attributed to his current QB Kyle Trask, someone who some Bears fans would also like to see on the team next season.
Whichever way you want to look at it, Grimes has shown real potential in his college career. His junior and senior years in particular have been very productive. Grimes has great size, measuring 6’4 and 214 pounds. He will still need some polish as a pro but he could fit in nicely with the Bears.
