Right Tackle: Charles Leno/Alex Bars/Rookie

Right tackle is the biggest question mark surrounding next season then. I expect the Bears to cut both Charles Leno and Bobby Massie to save money. They should regardless cut one of them.

The issue is Alex Bars deserve to start. It is unfortunate that the Bears have such a good interior offensive line since Bars is so solid. Because of this, they should give Bars a chance to compete for the starting right tackle job if they chose to move on from both Leno and Massie.

I wouldn’t be shocked though if they kept Leno and restructured his contract to take a pay cut. He has been solid in this new scheme and he could be a solid right tackle. Plus, his experience with the team is valuable along with his leadership.

The Bears should also draft a development offensive tackle either in the third round or a later round to sit behind these guys. This offensive tackle could be the tackle of the future and be ready to take over if he develops correctly. It would give them a chance to get a diamond in the rough in the later rounds with this deep offensive tackle class.

Final Thoughts:

If the Bears remain with this scheme, this offensive line could be a very solid one in 2021. They need to address the offensive tackle positions this offseason regardless because of the poor play they’ve gotten from that position.
