Wade Phillips would be a great replacement for the Chicago Bears

A veteran of the game, Wade Phillips is a great candidate to replace Pagano. Phillips has a vast amount of experience coaching in the NFL with multiple teams including Super Bowl appearances and Super Bowl victories carried by his defense.

Recently, he won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in 2015 when they shut down the Carolina Panthers’ outstanding offense led by Cam Newton. In the Super Bowl, they held Newton to only 10 points in their 24-10 victory.

After his time with Denver, he joined Sean McVay in Los Angeles as their defensive coordinator. Even with them, he showed his value as they shut down the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl holding them to 13 points. They lost 13-3 despite their ability to shut down Tom Brady. The next season the Rams struggled and Phillips didn’t get his contract renewed.

He currently doesn’t have a job this season and it remains questionable if he would even come back to the NFL. If he does, the Bears need to have him on their radar not only for his expertise but also for his Super Bowl and playoff experience.
