The Chicago Bears kept their playoff hopes alive on Sunday

This roller coaster that has been the Chicago Bears season all comes down to Week 17. After starting 5-1 the Bears suffered from a six-game losing streak to fall to 5-7. Now, heading into Week 17 the Bears can make the playoffs by beating their biggest enemy.

The Bears control their own destiny but can also make the playoffs with a Cardinals loss. With Rams QB Jared Goff already ruled out, it may be tough for the Rams to get a win. Let’s not get too far ahead though.

There was some good and some bad in Week 16 but overall, this was another strong showing by the Bears. The offense was a little bit flat in the first half but the defense held up well this week. The Jaguars put out a junior varsity team in this game and were able to take advantage of a banged-up Chicago secondary.

The offense once again put out another solid performance and that is where I will start with the first stud.

Stud No. 1: David Montgomery

This was somewhat of a down game for David Montgomery after what he has been putting on the field recently. Down game or not, this was yet another impressive performance by the second-year back.

Montgomery has been on a tear going over 100 scrimmage yards yet again and no reason to believe that shouldn’t happen against the Packers next week. In my opinion, Montgomery has been the Bears’ best player over this recent stretch of games, and his play should put him on the map for a true breakout year in 2021.
