The Chicago Bears do not have to worry about Cairo Santos in the playoffs

Bears fans still shudder whenever someone mentions the double-doink. Having stability at kicker is a huge thing for any NFL team, especially one trying to make a playoff run. The Bears may have found their solution with Cairo Santos.

Since Week 3, Santos has been automatic for the Bears, tying the all-time record for consecutive field-goals made in Bears history. What started as a signing for reassurance may very well lead to Santos being extended by the Bears for the foreseeable future.

The Bears haven’t had a solid kicker since Robbie Gould. Having one now, where every game matters, is crucial. Winning in the playoffs doesn’t have to be pretty, it just has to be done. Santos could very well be the deciding factor in whether or not the Bears upset a team this year in the playoffs, and after losing a playoff game because of a kick only a few years ago, it’s nice to think that it won’t be the case this year.
