Offensive Tackles the Chicago Bears could target in the first round

This is the biggest need for the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft. With Charles Leno and Bobby Massie as the two starting offensive tackles taking up a decent amount of money, the Bears need to upgrade here. Neither of them is worth their contracts and the Bears could benefit from cutting one of them if not both.

This offensive tackle class is extremely deep. It is clear and obvious Penei Sewell is the alpha offensive tackle in this class, but after that, it is murky as to who will follow after him. In actuality, there are around eight offensive tackles that have first-round talent that could go in the first round or even fall to the second round. This could benefit the Bears though as they could trade back and still possibly get their guy if he is underrated. Here are some tackles they should target.

  • Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech
  • Rashawn Slater, Northwestern
  • Samuel Cosmi, Texas
  • Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
  • Alex Leatherwood, Alabama
  • Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame

And even after these six guys, there are plenty of other tackles that could be sitting in the Bears’ lap even in the second round. Because of this, I would be satisfied if the Bears passed on a tackle as long as they got a starting-quality one in the second round. A first-round offensive lineman would be very nice though.
