Roquan Smith is the easy pick for Chicago Bears Defensive Player of the Year
Honorable mentions: Khalil Mack, Kyle Fuller
The anchor of the defense. The spark that fueled this fire. The most reliable guy to look to when things get bad. Roquan Smith is without a doubt the team’s most valuable defensive player this season.
Smith was a tackling machine for the Bears, but what also stood out this year was his zone coverage abilities. It was a major loss on Sunday when Smith had to leave the game early due to injury, and it was evident the defense isn’t the same without him.
All Bears fans hope the former Georgia Bulldog will be able to strap up for this upcoming playoff matchup. Smith’s value as a leader shows with his communication but also his playing ability: there are few players like him in the NFL currently.
