Round 3 Ι Pick 83: Chicago Bears select running back Javonte Williams

North Carolina. 3. 57. Scouting Report. RB. player. Pick Analysis. JavonteWilliams

A running back in the third round? When the Bears have David Montgomery?

Absolutely. When Javonte Williams is sitting there at the 83rd pick, the Bears have no choice but to pull the trigger.

The value is simply too good here. At the moment, Williams is The Draft Network’s 57th ranked prospect overall. The ability to pair he and David Montgomery together would mean the Bears have one of the younger, more potent one-two punches in the league at running back.

Williams not only ran for over 1,100 yards and scored 19 touchdowns on the ground, but he caught 25 passes for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns. This makes him the perfect compliment to Montgomery, even though they’ll have Tarik Cohen coming back next year.

Having a trio of strong running backs makes this Bears team tough to beat. Look at the Los Angeles Rams, who have used three different running backs throughout the year. They’ve also spent high draft capital on two of them in the last handful of drafts. Similarly, the Bears could opt for the same strategy.

Today’s NFL is a different league. No longer can you have a solid defense and expect to win. You have to score points. The Bears will be a better offense with Williams on the roster, therefore he’s a can’t-miss pick here.
