Chicago Bears double up on quarterback in this seven-round mock draft

Round 5 Ι Pick 160: The Chicago Bears select interior lineman Cade Mays
Like the previous pick, this one is a value selection for the Bears. The 2020 season saw the Bears surprisingly solve their interior offensive line woes. Sam Mustipher looks like he could be a long-term option at center for the Bears, which means the team could switch Cody Whitehair back to guard, with James Daniels at the other spot.
But, behind those three, Chicago will need added depth. Germain Ifedi could leave after just one season in Chicago, which would put the Bears in a tough spot in terms of their depth.
Drafting Cade Mays out of Tennessee is a move which gives the Bears a ton of options up front. He’s had experience playing all five positions across the offensive line, which is valuable.
Mays is especially effective in the run game and gets great movement on most occasions, but could use some work on his technique in his lower half. Maintaining a lower stance and gaining an advantage should be atop his priority list. Mays has a tendency to stand taller in pass protection and should certainly look to fix that going into the NFL.
Adding Mays to the fold in the fifth round is a good value overall and would cement some depth up front for Chicago.
