The Chicago Bears should also bring back Cairo Santos
The more important special teams player is Cairo Santos. Santos proved that Eddy Pineiro can leave and find a new team. Pineiro might have the youth at only 25 years old, but I would prefer the accuracy and consistency of Santos.
Now that Santos is fully healed, he looks like a Hall of Fame kicker out there. To finish the season, Santos made an amazing 27 consecutive kicks. He finished the year with a career-best 93.8% field goal percentage. He made 30 of his 32 kicks, including two of three from 50-plus yards.
Santos is a career 83.1% field goal kicker, but injuries have somewhat derailed his career. Now that he is healthy again, the Chicago Bears need to extend him beyond 2020. I am honestly surprised, just as I was with the Allen Robinson contract, that the Chicago Bears did not extend Santos during the offseason. Santos earned $910,000 this year with the Bears, but after his career year, he should see a multi-year contract worth at least a few million.
