Mario Edwards played well enough to earn a Chicago Bears contract in 2021

I had a hard time putting Mario Edwards here. Edwards is dealing with a misdemeanor assault charge, but nothing has come from it at this point. I do not condone that type of behavior, however, if everything is cleared up through the court system, Edwards must be a guy this team brings back.

In fact, bringing back Edwards and Brent Urban will soften the blow as Roy Robertson-Harris finds a new home through free agency. Spotrac is projecting that Robertson-Harris will receive $8 million with a new contract in 2021. Although I love Robertson-Harris (own a practice-worn jersey), I would refuse to give that much money.

From a football perspective, Edwards looked great out there. Once again another Jay Rodgers compliment is needed here. Just like Brent Urban, Edwards had a career year in sacks with four. He was brought in as more of a pass-rush specialist and it paid off. What’s great about Edwards is the fact he is a former second-round pick that is only 26 (nearly 27) years old. The Chicago Bears should once again be able to bring him back on a team-friendly deal.
