The Allen Robinson era could soon be over for the Chicago Bears when NFL free agency begins.

Fans have been bracing for this offseason for a while now, but none want to see this actually happen. Since being unable to get an extension done prior to the 2020 season, the Bears and Allen Robinson have appeared headed for a split.

Whether it’s his social media accounts or recent quotes on radio shows, Robinson has definitely hinted at his displeasure with the Bears in regards to his contract situation.

Despite the potential to lose one of the best all-around receivers in the game, general manager Ryan Pace told the media in the team’s season-closing press conference that “everyone” knows how they feel about Allen Robinson.

The funny part is, most people do know at this point — except it’s not the feelings Pace hinted at in his presser. Actions speak much louder than words, and Pace has failed to show Robinson just how valued he is to this franchise.

If Robinson was indeed part of the team’s future plans, Pace would have gotten this issue resolved before last season began and this whole situation could have been avoided. Now, it really does seem like Robinson could end up leaving Chicago.

Sure, the team could decide to place the franchise tag on Robinson if they wanted to. But, we’ve seen that open up a different can of worms with disgruntled players on several occasions. Robinson likely doesn’t want to be back, so who do the Bears look at potentially replacing him with?

If they chose to go the free agency route, one of the next few players could make a lot of sense.
