Chicago Bears free agent replacements for Allen Robinson: Tim Patrick

This last player is not one you might immediately have come to mind as a replacement for Robinson, but the impending restricted free agent from Denver could be a great addition to this offense at a much cheaper price.

Tim Patrick is a heck of a football player. In Denver, he was overshadowed by names like Courtland Sutton, as well as rookies Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler. However, with Sutton’s season-ending injury, Patrick was forced to step up as the veteran — and he did.

On a mostly-poor Broncos offense, Patrick was a highlight. He finished 2020 with 51 receptions for 742 yards and six touchdowns. He also compiled three games with over 100 receiving yards.

The 27-year-old out of Colorado is a former undrafted free agent who has worked his way into relevancy in Denver. Aside from Sutton and Jeudy, he’s arguably the most important receiver on their roster. One could even argue he’s a step over Jeudy, as the rookie needs to improve a bit in his second year.

Patrick is a lot like Allen aRobinson where he can make the tough catches. He’s also a bit taller than Robinson at 6-foot-4 with great size. Again, he would come cheaper than most guys this offseason, Robinson included, and the Bears could save a little cash to use elsewhere.
