Mitch Trubisky | Chicago Bears Quarterback
This one is hard because many people had low expectations for Mitch Trubisky, but many expected him to take the next step after beating out Foles for the starting job. Instead, Trubisky looked the same early on and got benched for Foles in the third week of the season. Trubisky eventually came back in shredding bad defenses, but he then struggled against the good ones.
In his defense, it is hard to tell how good he could be outside of the Nagy scheme. It seems Nagy didn’t like to scheme the offense to him and his playcalling is not very good. He still looked streaky though and didn’t take the next step. He did put the team on his back though and make the playoffs. Trubisky finished the season with 67% completion for 2,055 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in nine games. He finished the season with a 93.5 passer rating.
It’s likely that Trubisky is gone this offseason as well. He will likely test free agency and it seems that the Bears won’t throw him a new contract. It should be interesting to see how he performs elsewhere if he ever gets the chance to start again.
