Chicago Bears: The 2021 Mock Draft (trade) that saves Matt Nagy
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears swing for the fences in Round 1
By now, you know plenty of Bears media, insiders, fans, and writers who have Zach Wilson atop their draft wish lists. In order for the Bears to have any shot at drafting BYU’s stud quarterback, though, they will more than likely have to move up into the top five.
So, what does it take for Chicago to land Wilson? In this instance, they partner with the Atlanta Falcons who end up deciding to stick with Matt Ryan for just a little while longer but may end up replacing him next year after netting a haul of picks from the Bears, giving them an extra first-round pick in 2022.
Bears get: No 4 pick and ATL 6th rounder this year
Falcons get: No 20 pick, 3rd rounder this year, 1st and 4th rounder next year
Somehow, the Bears manage to get an extra pick next year while also landing the no. 4 pick from the Atlanta Falcons. But, it costs them their first and third-round picks this year, plus a first and fourth-rounder next year.
No matter, Wilson is worth every bit of this deal.
The BYU product comes to Chicago wearing a headband full of swagger and ready to lead this team back to glory. Coming off a season where he threw for nearly 3,700 yards, 33 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, Wilson is taking the leap.
If you haven’t read much on Wilson by now, know this: the confidence and arm talent abound within this kid. He’s a heck of a football player, he knows it and he backs it up.
