Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 83

Standing at 6’2 and 215 pounds, Sage Surratt is a large target for any quarterback. He uses his great hands and superb ball skills to make contested catches. He is able to get open with a combination of good route running and strength to breakthrough coverage.

He does lack in speed and acceleration, which are almost must-haves in today’s game. Still, he has sneaky burst off the line and is creative in getting open and past defenders. He will never be a speed threat off the line, but defenses still have to respect him.

It is looking more and more like the Bears are going to lose Allen Robinson, and while it would hurt the offense, bringing in Surratt as a potential new “X” receiver could be a step in the right direction.

Surratt put up an insane season in 2019, really making his quarterback Jamie Newman look spectacular at that time. He opted out of the 2020 season, which can hurt his draft stock a bit. Still, getting Surratt in the third round would be great value for the Bears and bring a jump ball target to the offense with or without Allen Robinson.
