The Chicago Bears must find depth behind Roquan Smith in this draft

Roquan Smith had a terrific 2020 season. He seems to be a long-term fit for the Bears at inside linebacker. However, after two back-to-back seasons with injuries, the Bears may want to find him some depth.

Danny Trevathan’s production is starting to dip. The Bears reserve players, Johnathan Woods and Joel Iyiegbuniwe have yet to show any signs they deserve their backup gigs. In the Bears 2020 playoff game, the team had to activate Manti Te’o to the active roster.

Finding a rookie linebacker as a cheap and solid piece to this Bears defense is a must. The answer is also in this year’s draft.

Round 3 Ι Pick No. 84 Ι Monty Rice, Linebacker, Georgia

The Chicago Bears do love their Georgia prospects. Monty Rice is an explosive player that fits exactly what the Bears need. Besides being a special teams ace, Rice had some solid coverage skills during his time with the Bulldogs. He could be a nice addition to the defense should he fall to the Bears in the third.
