We are officially in mock draft season. Unfortunately, some of the more recent mock drafts being put out by top sites are becoming a little ridiculous. During this time of the year, quarterbacks are always mocked up higher than what actually happens on draft day. This is what happens in a recent CBS mock draft that has the Chicago Bears taking a wide receiver 20th overall.

Unfortunately, the wide receiver taken is not DeVonta Smith or even Jaylen Waddle. Nope, Ja’Marr Chase did not fall either. We will get to who the Bears select 20th overall shortly, but we have to look at how this even happened.

This analyst has the obvious choice going first overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence is the clear-cut top prospect in this draft and is projected to be a sure bet in the NFL. The fact that Urban Meyer is the new head coach of the Jaguars is not enough for Justin Fields to supplant Lawrence here either.

As much as I like Fields, he does not even go second overall. Instead, the New York Jets take Zach Wilson. This is interesting as many believe the Jets are a top candidate to trade for Deshaun Watson. In that trade, the second-overall pick would for sure be included. Personally, I am taking Fields over Wilson if I am the Jets, but to each their own.

Justin Fields does not have to wait long though as the CBS analyst has the Carolina Panthers trading up to third overall with the Miami Dolphins. The Panthers give up the swap of first-round picks (8th overall), their second-round pick (39th overall) and fourth round-pick (104th overall). The Panthers take Fields to compete with Teddy Bridgewater in 2021. This is when things get strange though.
