With Trey Lance going off the board, the Chicago Bears must switch gears

Now that five quarterbacks have come off the board, the Chicago Bears will not be able to even consider the position at 20th overall. This mock draft only covers the first round, but I would hope that the analyst has the Chicago Bears taking a quarterback in the second or third round.

As we move down the board to 20th overall, we see two linebackers, a cornerback, a tight end an EDGE rusher, a defensive lineman and three offensive linemen selected ahead of the Bears. My top two options based on how the first 10 picks went were Christian Darrisaw and Rashawn Slater. Slater went 18th overall to the Dolphins and Darrisaw went 19th overall to Washington. This is bad news in my opinion for the Chicago Bears.

What does this leave for the Chicago Bears? Well, the analyst has the Bears selecting Kadarius Toney out of Florida. I think Toney will make a fine wide receiver in the NFL, but I am not happy about him going to the Chicago Bears at 20th overall. Should the Bears trade back to 25-32 I could get more on board with this pick. Honestly, I would have preferred the Bears taking Christian Barmore, defensive lineman or Alex Leatherwood, offensive tackle (both out of Alabama).

Next. Philip Rivers retirement hurts the Bears. dark

Final Thoughts:

This draft has five quarterbacks go in the first 10 rounds. Five quarterbacks selected in the first round has only happened three times (2018, 1999 and 1983). In 1983, six quarterbacks were actually taken. I can see five quarterbacks go in the first round of this draft, but I am not happy with Toney being taken at 20th overall. I find this draft to be crazy and the Chicago Bears better not allow this draft to happen.
