4. Defensive line depth

Sean Dessai arguably beat out Jay Rodgers for this job. Rodgers has been the defensive line coach for a while, but he will move to LA to join Brandon Staley with the Rams. With that comes the question of how valuable he has been.

Akiem Hicks had career years here, but the true value is the depth. Nick Williams, Mario Edwards, Brent Urban, even guys like Mitch Unrein excelled with Rodgers more than most. What is it about him that brought out the best in these journeymen linemen?

Can Sean Dessai continue to get the same production out of this group? Fangio and Staley play with lightboxes, and hope to stop the run with a strong line up-front. If the depth of the line takes a hit and Dessai cannot fill it, he is going to have adjusted his scheme to put more men in the box.

Sometimes it is small little cracks that expose leaks. Could the Bears losing depth and their edge on the line hurt them long-term?
