Chicago Bears: Five free agents Ryan Pace must target this offseason

Chicago Bears should sign: Tyrod Taylor, QB – two years, $10.5 million

If the Bears do look to bring in some quarterback competition, there are a lot of options out there. The Nick Foles experiment did not work out, and most fans would agree to have him as the starting quarterback next year would not be ideal. If the Bears do trade for a quarterback, Foles could be part of the package, which means they would need another veteran option for depth.

Tyrod Taylor went into last year as the starter for the Chargers, but he was unable to play after a couple of weeks due to a trainer puncturing a lung during a shot. He has still been a solid starter and backup his entire career, he just was never able to maintain a starting job.

He still has a lot of experience and could be a good mentor to a young quarterback. If the Bears trade for a starter, he could be a good backup to have on the roster. He is mobile and has good enough arm talent to hold his own as a starter for a few weeks. Sure, he is not an ideal guy to have to be the starting quarterback, but as a backup, he would be of great value.

Giving him a one or two year deal for this type of money would be a good value for the Bears. Ideally, he would not have to play, but if he had to he could run an offense just fine and is also very mobile. The Bears need to keep an athlete in the quarterback room if they are losing Mitchell Trubisky. Taylor is a great runner from the quarterback spot and could be a perfect backup for this team.

Any of these free agents would be solid additions for the Chicago Bears. Sure, Corey Davis might not be Allen Robinson, and William Jackson is no Kyle Fuller, but these players would be great pieces and offer good depth.
