Isaiah McKenzie is a young option at receiver for the Chicago Bears

One of the positions which could look significantly different for the Bears next season is at wide receiver, and not just because of the situation with Allen Robinson. While no one knows what will happen with Robinson, the Bears have another issue at hand within that group.

The Bears brass acknowledged they weren’t happy with Anthony Miller’s ejection versus the Saints, and in fact, they were more upset with that ejection than Javon Wims’ tossing earlier in the year. The tone used when discussing Miller was not a positive one.

So, on one hand, you have Robinson who could be re-signed, hit with the franchise tag or allowed to leave via free agency. It depends on how much money the Bears can clear to be able to keep him.

On the other hand, Miller may also be cut. So, the team will need to fill that need at wide receiver in a variety of ways. Isaiah McKenzie could be a nice, buy-low option for the Bears.

McKenzie wasn’t heavily involved in Buffalo’s offense on a regular basis, but when he was, he had a nose for the end zone. Out of his 30 receptions in 2020, five of them went for touchdowns — a career-high.

The former fifth-rounder out of Georgia is a smaller receiver who can also add potential depth on special teams and projects to be a slot guy in the Bears’ offense. McKenzie could come cheaper than most options in free agency as well.
