Chicago Bears trade for Matt Ryan with one of these splash deals
By Ryan Heckman
With a haul of picks sent to Atlanta, the Chicago Bears get Matt Ryan
Over any other deals made, this one would be the toughest to swallow for Chicago. But, it might be the preferred route to go for the Falcons. In this one, Atlanta gets a haul of picks for Ryan and doesn’t absorb any incoming salary from the Bears.
The Bears start the baseline with two first-round picks, one this year and one next year. With that, they also send their 2022 third-rounder and a sixth-rounder from this year’s draft. However, Pace is able to net a pick in return, similar to how he operated within the Khalil Mack trade.
The Bears would be without a first-round pick, fourth-round pick and one of their two sixth-round picks in the 2021 Draft. That means their second-round selections this year and next year are again at a premium as they were in last year’s draft.
For Atlanta, this means they are in draft capital heaven for a couple of years. A pair of first-rounders in two straight drafts, plus an extra pick in next year’s third round — that’s a heck of a haul for the Falcons, who will undoubtedly need to find their future franchise quarterback in a hurry. With the fourth overall pick in the draft this year, chances are excellent that they do just that, while also loading up on defense to fill some holes.
