Chicago Bears: Round 3 Ι Pick No. 68 via ATL

After seeing the board at pick no. 53, I liked my chances to trade back and take basically the best player available that could help this team for years. That just so happened to be Jabril Cox also out of LSU.

After excelling as a star for FCS powerhouse North Dakota State for years, Cox transferred to LSU to prove his ability at the next level. He did just that proving his ability as a coverage linebacker and his ability to fly around the field. He is extremely fast and explosive and can get to the ball carrier very quickly.

He’s still relatively raw, but he balled out at the Senior Bowl. Many NFL Draft analysts were raving about his game from his ability to cover to his ability to learn on the fly to how to take on blockers and shed blockers. He will be a project at linebacker as he has more to learn, but he can develop into a star.

The Bears do already have Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathan, but after them, they have a lot of nothing. Cox is actually a perfect fit here though. Trevathan can take the early downs in shutting down the run while Cox is learning how to transition to the NFL and Cox can come in for passing downs to be alongside Smith. Eventually, he can take over for Trevathan as he is already going to be 31 soon.
